True or False: No one is above the law.

How many times have we heard, “no one is above the law”. Well…it’s a lie. We have seen clear evidence over the past year that Netanyahu is above the law. We hear, “He thinks he is above the law”. So far, it’s true. He is above International law, above International Human Rights Law, above International Criminal Law, above ICJ and ICC rulings, above the Geneva Convention. Yep, he’s above them all, and the entire world is watching one man and his murderous cronies flout laws that are universally held to be fair and just. So yes, he is above the law.

There are 196 countries and just 2 are holding 194 to ransom. Just two countries are holding our collective feet to the fire and wondering when we will say “enough”. The United States of America and Israel are above all the aforementioned laws, and 194 countries aren’t doing much to find the many ways to enforce those laws and bring back a sense of calm to a world spinning out of control. So, we can all stop using the phrase “no one is above the law” because it is wholly untrue.

Netanyahu is above all laws against – collective punishment, murder, starvation methods, medicide, genocide, the bombing of schools and hospitals. Just read those last two again and let it sink in that he is giving the green light to bomb schools where children are housed and hospitals where the sick and dying are holding on to their last breath. Imagine a child being in hospital because he or she has had both legs blown off. Then comes another bomb on the hospital and that child has no ability to run. No horror movie could come close to what Netanyahu is instructing the IDF to carry out. What a monster.

It begs the question why the youth in the IDF don’t down their weapons and walk off the job; that would bring an end to the devastation. They are all surely going to be traumatised throughout their lives when they become fully cognisant of what they were a party to, especially when they become parents themselves. And, of course, the severely traumatised, deprived and starved Palestinian children will grow to be vastly different adults from what should have been their natural passage to adulthood with freedom and safety.

We have been shown that might is right and that the thugs of this world will take us all to hell. There’s another saying, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men [and women] to do nothing.” This one is true.

We can surmise that Netanyahu and his ilk are demonstrably above the law and that the evil taking place in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Iran and Syria is because good men [and women] do nothing. How long will this go on? As long as the United States keeps supplying weapons to Israel, keeps funding Israel’s genocidal mania and keeps sending billions and billions of dollars to Israel, is how long it will go on for. And since we know a gentle finger wag from Biden is all Israel gets, we can assume it will go on for a lot longer. Trump will make no difference to U.S. hegemony and foreign policy. America is a war machine.

Unless the numerous countries who supply weapons (U.S. by far) bits of weapons (you know who you are Australia) export licences for military equipment to Israel (UK) weapons supplies (Germany) – unless these countries stop aiding and abetting the carnage and the murder of children, women, the elderly, the innocent, babies, the fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, aunties, grandparents – unless the countries that are assisting Israel with their genocide put a stop to their supplying, it will continue. Perhaps one of the most egregious actions is to watch those who are in positions of power spew words of encouragement and support for the Israeli government’s killing machine of cruelty to a people on who’s land they stole and imprisoned for seven decades with an illegal military occupation. Insult to injury doesn’t even come close.

Israel and the U.S. have always touted themselves as ‘exceptional’. That’s true. They are exceptionally cruel to others. They also call themselves democracies, but we all know that is total garbage. These two unsound nations could have been so much more than they have become. Instead, they are the reference point for many to describe thuggery and brutality. They both salivate at the idea of weaponry and war as they push for further hegemony at the cost of lives and futures of not only those they invade and occupy, but their own citizens.

The hatred that brews in both countries amongst its own citizens should be a lesson in how not to govern the masses. They both hold religion as their raison d’être and excuse illegal occupations, imprisonment, war and aggression. Both nations believe they are ‘ordained’ by their perceived Gods, but what kind of a god would be proud of disciples who kill women, babies, children and innocent people – all the while trying to pretend they are defending freedom. They both feign a David status against Goliath. They are the Goliath on the world stage as they tilt us into a new world where there are no laws to abide by. They are examples that any nation can now ignore all laws. No one will stop you.

Hutu extremists in Rwanda, Milosevic and Nazi Germany were not above the law. In 2019 Netanyahu was indicted for bribery, fraud and breach of trust. But hey…genocide is fine. What kind of a country wants such a despicable leader who runs rampant over all laws of humanity and society? How can the majority of Israelis not be horrified as to what has happened to the moral compass of their men and women in government?

As reported by Abdelhamid Siyam of Al-Quds Al-Arabi, “An Israeli settler leader said, ‘the sound of bombardment in Gaza is like music in my ear. I’m only worried if I don’t hear the bombardment.’” What the hell is that depraved level of inhumanity backed by a dubious religious claim to the Unholy Land. Religion and its unhinged side may be the death of us all.

Stop selling weapons to Israel, sanction Israel, enact Boycott Divestment Sanctions and end this gross violation of everything that makes us human. Don’t let false accusations of anti-Semitism put you off standing up for justice and humanity. If Israel is allowed to violate all laws and to flout the very essence of humanity and get away with it, we are delusional if we think it can’t happen to us. The grisly precedent has been set on the heads of the Palestinians. You and your country could be next. And if such horrors occur in your country wouldn’t you want the other 194 countries to come to your aid?
