In response to Australia's new architecture in the Pacific should include China

Cooperation not confrontation

Ronald C. Keith says: “Rather than expanding anti-China alliances, it would be rational to cooperate rather than compete with China.”

I could not agree more. The PM has championed the Ocean of Peace concept in our new treaty with Fiji.

Perhaps he could also champion former Sri Lanka PM Mrs Sirimavo Bandaranaike’s idea for an Indian Ocean Zone of Peace. The northwest tip of that ocean currently is in dire straits, brought about by an unlawful US attack on Iran, and the killing of 73000 people by Israel in Southwest Palestine.

He might also consider how peace-promoting it is to have US and UK submarines (which might or might not be nuclear-armed) based in Fremantle at the southeast tip of that ocean.
