In response to Enough is never enough

‘Ethical politician’ should not be an oxymoron

It’s such a rort being a politician isn’t it? You can ignore voters needs, break promises, lie outright and slander under parliamentary privilege. You can crush the less fortunate into the dust, destroy lives and you don’t have to account for any of it. When you leave politics, you get a parliamentary pension, millions in super, travel perks for the rest of your life, plus – usually – a multimillion dollar job with an arms manufacturer, fossil fuel company or a telco – where you can squeeze the little people further.

There was a time, only just, in my living memory, where ‘ethical politician’ was not an oxymoron. We must demand better.
