In response to The Pentagon is burning the bridge before building the road

Long-term planning versus reactive decision-making

There could not be a better illustration of the contrast between the built-in shortcomings in the largely unregulated winner takes all capitalism of the US and the long term thought and planning of the Chinese economic system. As I have said before, the modern high-technology age we live in demands foresight and long timescales for self sufficiency in an age of economic warfare from the hegemon.

The Chinese system of “socialism with Chinese characteristics” fits that bill admirably with five year plans on major goals and consistency of investment over decades, without the short-term capitalist perspective of immediate returns and perpetually rising share prices.

That is why China has assured itself its ability to withstand the economic warfare being waged upon it be the US and to a lesser extent Europe. They anticipated what the US would do and have made sure that it would fail in those endeavors.

Chinese control over refined rare earths and other critical minerals are now the primary instruments of restraining the US war machine and its attempts to continue to dominate the world militarily. The US currently has no short-term strategy to overcome that due to massive failures in planning. The world applauds!
