In response to Eight economic myths that are helping destroy our future

Nuance as victim

Subtlety and nuance are the victims of our era. It is these qualities that make us compassionate human beings, with courage to act. We only need look at the political horizon and see scores of missed opportunities due to a lack of political courage.

Our society is becoming black / white thinkers, which makes us easier to divide. AI chatbots are trying to further push us into becoming one dimensional linear beings. This narrowing of our focus, this myopia, will only fuel social discontent. We are seeing it manifest now.

We must claw back nuance and subtlety – of thought, of language – with sincere efforts to promote understanding; we must encourage critical thinking, and reject the soundbite, the scandalous headline, the inch-deep opinion. To do so is not placating; but the definition of courage. It is no less than the survival of human intelligence at stake.
