The Greens need and deserve support
John, I can feel that Labor still has a soft spot in your heart. I understand. I am one of such people as well. However, I think you, we, should start shifting the focus. Slightly. Little by little and towards supporting the Greens and giving them the forum, our resources and our invaluable guidance so as to make their moral, philosophical and ideological positions more robust, concrete and also palatable to the hoi polloi.
To me, the Greens is the new Labor but with its old, rightful traditional labor values in place. That’s why they need and deserve our support. They should be supported in becoming the major antagonist of Labor instead of One Nation, the mirror of a party going darkly and the thorn in the bum. This is the only way that something can change within Labor as well, because as you pointedly implied, Labor conferences and ideological debates on positions etc is just window dressing. “The (Labor) king is dead (should be), long live the king”. So, let’s help Australia do a “Hungary”. I am sure that by now you got my drift…
ps- I am not a member of any political party.
