The reality of the MOU

Actually, the MOU signed by the US was a document prepared by Iran’s National Security Council, a 13 member body responsible for defence policy, containing senior legislative, judicial officials, senior government ministers, senior military officers of both the IRGC and the army, and 2 appointees of Mojtaba Khamenei.

There was no “spoiler” within that group.

Key clauses in the MOU that the US agreed to were that Israel must cease its destruction and occupation of Lebanon, and that Iran retain control of the Strait of Hormuz, to name but two.

In brief, immediately after the US signed the MOU they sought to undermine it by guaranteeing support for continued Israeli military occupation and destruction of south Lebanon, and by arranging a direct challenge to Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz.

The “spoilers” of the MOU are those who have been the “spoilers” of every “negotiation”, every “ceasefire”, every “agreement”. The “spoilers” are those who use all elements of “diplomacy” as a cloak and a tool for deception.

The most interesting and ironic thing about the MOU is that the real “spoilers” should not have attacked Iran on 28 February 2026, a war crime. That includes Australia.
