The World Cup
An informative article particularly for a non soccer supporter like me. I have enjoyed the soccer and it has me thinking.
Firstly the players that were not playing in their home country seems high – understandable when you consider the world economies and the inequity of countries.
Secondly, the hand over the mouth red card suggests that the governing body is trying to do something about racism and sexualisation of on-field comments.
Thirdly, there seem to be a high percentage of nationalised (?) non-white players playing in traditionally white countries (what percentage of those countries have hand over type rules at all levels of the domestic competition for players and supporters?) Capitalism marches on.
Fourthly, how many of the ever-growing worldwide anti immigration protesters are loudly cheering for their own multicultural home team? I’m sure there are more questions that need answering.
