Australia ... grow up!
“Delivering Real Change” is yet another three-word slogan meaning the opposite of what it says. The real changes that would help reduce cost of living pressures are …
.. speed up the rate of change to renewable energy .. reduce the rate of climate change by ’not’ opening new mines/fracking sites and extending old ones .. levying a tax on gas exports .. stop sending good money after bad by withdrawing from AUKUS and all it entails, reclaiming some sovereignty as a bonus .. taxing multinationals that pay little or no tax here - institute a turnover tax for all those companies that manipulate their Australian profits to zero or little more
All of the above will boost Australia’s coffers no end, reducing pressure on households and enabling much needed improvements in public services such as health, education, aged care, public transport and roads, to name a few.
We’ve long proclaimed Australia to be the lucky country. Maybe so. But we’ve undeniably been the stupid country with our short-term vision and planning, and our lapdog subservience to the demands and desires of first the British and latterly the US, and our fearful caving-in to the threats and demands of multi-nationals.
