Australia is also a signatory from 1985/1986 to the Treaty of Rarotonga, the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Treaty, which formalises our alleged national commitment to a nuclear-weapon-free zone across all the Indigenous lands of the South Pacific. The Government cannot enhance genuine security for all of us, nor contribute meaningfully to the region’s security, let alone encourage all citizens and institutions to pursue public justice for all, as long as its state-crafting maintains such emphatic hypocrisy.
