In response to Australia’s EV boom has caught policymakers napping

Closing a luxury ute tax loophole could help fund EV fast chargers

We need to get rid of this luxury car tax loophole. High-end Ford vehicles — such as top-tier Ford Ranger variants — avoid the tax because they are classified as commercial goods vehicles (light commercial Utes) rather than passenger cars. It should only exempt EVs in this category. The revenue generated could be used to build EV fast charger around the country.
