Humanity’s vortex
The picture Julian Cribb paints is a frightening one. Sadly, it is based on long-standing historic precedent and our scientific knowledge relating to the workings of the human psyche. Any analysis of the causes of Cribb’s entrapment by the warlords and greedy scoundrels would reveal the eager abetment of humanity’s consumerism. Compelled by a seemingly insatiable desire for gratification of our ego driven wishes, we cheerfully hand them the wealth from which they derive their power. As this fuels an already overheated atmosphere, we’re destroying the very environmental, social and economic stability up which human existence depends.
I recall the words of my dear old Mum. In relation to any request or action that she deemed beyond necessary for a happy functioning life; she would tell us, “that won’t get you any closer to Heaven”. If we continue down this present path, however, we’ll be on the way a lot sooner than most of us have in mind.
