Not clear how to fix homelessness

Fabian Webber implies that we can do something about homelessness before someone becomes homeless. Thus the cure he has to homelessness is to stop someone from becoming homeless in the first place.

Unfortunately, the question then arises: where do all the new immigrants go? I would be happy for them not to come if they can’t find accommodation, but with supply less than demand, something has to give, and all I can do is guess that rents go too high for some and the well-paid immigrants take their place. As I say, I can only guess because no one tells us what the actual story is. If people were supported to afford the higher rent, then where would the potential immigrants go – would they stay where they are?
