In response to Albanese, climate change and the case for greater independence

The Albanese government is risk-averse

Mark Beeson’s excellent article discusses the unlikely possibility of the Albanese government acting independently of Washington. Unfortunately, there is no chance the government will stop supporting coal and gas exports. It is not prepared to take the political risk of bringing on a fight with the powerful fossil fuel lobby. This is a major lack of leadership because the burning of fossil fuels is the main cause of climate change being an existential threat to life on Earth.
