Thanks for your article. Unfortunately, I believe that most of what you say will come to pass, but I also believe that it may happen even quicker than most anticipate. This of course includes our pathetic governing bodies who are in the pockets of the fossil fuel lobby.

The main reason why I say that our demise may occur sooner than most expect is that our dilemma: that population and resource consumption continues to increase while we endeavour to maintain our current standard of living. Going forward, in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we must do one of two things: reduce our numbers on the planet or reduce our standard of living. I’m betting that we will do neither and like the people of Rapanui, we will pay for it dearly!

As an amateur weather watcher, I’m amazed at how our meteorological fraternity has handled the latest phenomenon of being in a so-called El Nino and Positive IOD and it’s bucketing down. The only similarity I can recall is the rains of 2010/11/12 when a strong Ningaloo Nino event enhanced by global heating produced 3 consecutive wet years.
