The remarkable courage and strength of MND patients
Since I retired on the mid north coast of NSW, I have been a palliative care volunteer for 10 years. During that time I have sat with three MND patients for many months, all of whom displayed remarkable courage and strength like Susie.
My aunt in England took 12 months to die of MND and her distraught doctor husband flew to Australia to assure us it is not heredity.
I hope others who have watched love ones die slowly of this disease will find comfort like I do from this knowledge.
I have been told since the introduction of recent legislation it is one disease a sufferer can ask for”end of life” relief via their doctor despite being unable to sign the necessary forms.
