The US hegemon
I absolutely agree with this article, however it is anethema to politicians of all colours and most of the populace because of their perceived need to hold hands with someone stronger, as it was with the UK at one time.
It is sad that most think we need someone to ‘have our back’ when there has been no guarantees of that – ever. It is only the self interest of hegemons that gives the impression of ‘support’.
To be independent of hegemony would show other countries that we are confident of our place in the world and will garner more respect than we have now by peeking out from behind the Stars & Stripes.
