An open letter to the ABC, 22 March 2023.

In a series of aggressions, Israel has been occupying Palestine from the river to the sea for over 74 years, by ethnically cleansing two-thirds of its people through over seventy massacres, killing and executing Palestinians daily (at least 89 Palestinians, including 16 children and a woman, have been killed and executed in the last ten weeks alone), exercising the crime of racial discrimination and apartheid of Jewish supremacy over Palestinians, documented and condemned by Israeli, Palestinian and international human rights organisations such as; Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Southwest Asia, Al Haq, Adalah and BTselem among others.

And yet, despite all this, the ABC never interviewed an Israeli ambassador or official to question them about Israels brutal occupation, racial discrimination and gross violations the way it questioned the Russian ambassador on the 7.30 TV program on Monday, 20 March 2023.

On the contrary, unlike its reporting on all other countries, when it comes to Israel, the ABC interviews Israeli propagandists, never challenges them and gives them a platform to spread Israeli propaganda as its radio Saturday Extra and other programs do. We never saw the ABC interview an apartheid apologist about the apartheid regime or a Russian propagandist about Ukraine, so why does it always interview Israeli apologists and propagandists about Israel? And if a Palestinian is interviewed, they are constantly interjected and quizzed as if Palestinians are the guilty, the aggressors and occupiers.

Israels apartheid, occupation, aggression and daily crimes seldom make it into the ABC news bulletins, while it reports Russias aggression on Ukraine daily.

The ABCs biased reporting, and more importantly, non-reporting of Israels crimes and violations are too many to mention. It seems the Israeli lobbys attack, from time to time in collaboration with Murdochs media, and some elements in the former Liberal government against the ABC, to keep it covering up on Israels crimes and violations has worked in intimidating the ABC and strengthened right-wing elements within the ABC.

It is clear the ABC is also practicing an apartheid policy towards the Palestinian people, and that has to end.
