Ellen Hansen has recently returned to Australia after 26 years with UNHCR, most recently as Deputy Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific. She has also served as UNHCR’s Head of Governance Service and Secretary of its Executive Committee as well as Senior Policy Adviser to then Assistant High Commissioner for Refugees Volker Turk. Prior to joining UNHCR she spent 10 years in DFAT. In 2024 she convened the graduate International Refugee Law course at the ANU.
