In response to Homeless shelters are needed urgently

Homeless problem

The homeless problems discussed in this article are entirely manageable by the government (state or federal). One of the (federal?) ministers recently said unequivocally that the decision of where to spend money is a matter of priority.

Money can, of course, only be spent once. Providing shelter to the homeless is obviously not a priority (as is bringing the unemployment benefits above the poverty level). Writing it like this, one would think, would raise outrage.

What more can be important than providing shelter for those who cannot afford it but need it? But no, barely a comment is made in the media or parliament about the moral bankruptcy of those deciding that such need for shelter is not a priority. We are well on the road to becoming a callous people, rather than a caring people.
