Summing Up: 'One of the best books I have ever read'

I am really enjoying reading Summing Up. It is one of the best books I have ever read. And I read a lot!

Pearls and Irritations started as a blog in 2013 as a platform  for good policy discussion.  It is free and has gained a wide circulation and is now influential throughout Australia.

John Menadue has had an extraordinary varied career. From a top public servant — Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Australian Ambassador to Japan; General Manager of News Ltd: CEO of Qantas; and Founder of the Centre for Policy Development.

John has now just  published his second book Summing Up. Often based on “Pearls and Irritations “articles, it confronts the key issues that we Australians have to face up to — now and in the future — for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

As our population now rapidly approaches 30 million and 9% are of Asian background, in a challenging yet balanced way, it promotes a wide discussion on key issues. It is well written and easy to read.

I believe it should be essential reading for secondary school and university students and for all who are concerned about Australia’s future in a rapidly changing world.

I strongly recommend  Summing Up.
