No such ceasefire

As the latest ceasefire has predictably ended, will the world start taking notice of the Palestinians again? There’s been a stark absence of coverage in mainstream media of the ongoing decimation of Gaza and the West Bank. I imagine the average citizen believes it’s all okay now, the onslaught has ended and there’s nothing more to worry about. Nothing to see here, folks. Phew, the Palestinians are safe.

Yet the carnage didn’t end at all, Israel simply moved their killing machines a few kilometres north-east while the world looked away from the attempted eradication of the Palestinian people. The IDF were (are) alive and kicking in the West Bank as they kill women and children during their so-called ceasefire.

Where do we go from here when the leader of the free world is giving carte blanche to another hate-filled leader halfway around the world who doesn’t seem to know the meaning of the word humanity? We are back to square one where the fighting will continue, the death of innocent civilians will continue and Netanyahu’s hell-bent takeover of Gaza keeps moving apace over the corpses of those who stand in his way until Gaza is completely uninhabitable.

And again, there will be no water, no electricity, no medicine, no food. Dystopian doesn’t even come close to what it is and what it will become. Then the abhorrent policies of the Trump and Netanyahu administrations will call in the bulldozers, give plump contracts to their buddies and start to build their dreams to turn Gaza into another Riviera or Florida. That is, unless the world is on high alert again that their fellow human beings are being bombed, murdered and ethnically cleansed.

After World War II, the world was shaken and horrified when they truly understood what had taken place throughout the six years. Leaders rallied to ensure that a calm took hold post-war; never again became the catch words of the day. Why are so few learning from history? If the world doesn’t pay attention and start putting this tragedy as front-page news again, then Netanyahu, Trump and that ilk of inhumane people will be free to do exactly what they have planned all along. Then history will repeat and we’ll all be asking ourselves, “how did this happen on our watch”, just like our grandparents asked themselves.

It’s fairly safe to assume that Trump doesn’t care about the Bible or what it says, but Zionists are intent on sticking to scripture and laying claim to a biblical promise from a book that not everybody believes holds the title deeds of someone else’s land. That same book also has verses about “love they neighbour” and “care for the poor”, but there’s no money in that nor any suggestion of a yacht mooring on the Mediterranean.

Far too many Americans fell for Trump’s photo-op when he held up the Bible beside a church noticeboard. He knew exactly what he was doing as he metaphorically rubbed his hands with glee that he was able to exponentially boost the Evangelical Christian voting bloc. Did those same Christians know that Trump was going to give the go-ahead to kill more of God’s children? It makes a mockery of the elements of faith and kindness. They fell for the “ye olde Christian revivalism” when in fact it was the extreme ugliness of extreme political realism.

What is so frustrating is that just a scratch on the surface of truthful reporting would alert the average reader that the takeover of Gaza has been the plan all along and that any talk about a ceasefire was only to placate the world for a little while in order for us to think the carnage was over. It was never intended to be. Netanyahu and Trump are so full of hate and greed that the lives of fellow humans mean nothing to them. They are both high on their rapacious power and greed. But they are stoppable, if only the world would put pressure on them both with all the tools available. It’s hard to comprehend why such a powerful force of over 44 countries in Europe and approximately 750 million people aren’t standing up to the bullies. Isn’t there at least a handful of people with an ethical mindset? But perhaps Europe is now thinking twice about their submission to the US after they see the true intentions of Trump and Musk to rule the world in their own cruel way.

The MSM would have us believe that the blame for this fresh assault on Gaza falls at the feet of Hamas and their delay in releasing hostages. Of course, had Hamas released every last one, dead or alive, the carnage would have recommenced immediately with a concomitant story about how Hamas did this or that and how they needed to be taught another lesson. Israeli officials say they are “targeting Hamas leadership” to force the release of the last hostages. Yeah, right. When will this BS end? If Israel really wanted to save the last remaining hostages they wouldn’t be bombing areas that may house them. Even families of some hostages say they are doubtful the endgame is to save them as they call for this fresh wave of destruction to end. The mindset that fuels Netanyahu’s Government should be a study in barefaced lies, hatred and vengefulness.

Let’s hope that sympathy fatigue is not on the rise, otherwise if it happens to any of us in the future we shouldn’t be surprised when the world looks away and does not bother whether we live or die.

All wars end in negotiation – can’t we skip the war bit and go straight to the table and talk?
