An open letter to Benjamin Netanyahu

Stop lying to your people and the world._

_

We know you have political reasons for breaking the ceasefire in Gaza, to appease all the far-right supremacists that hold your government together and keep you in power, and the war on Gaza helps you to avoid your corruption trial.

On 19 January, you had agreed to move to Stage Two of the ceasefire, after Stage One, in which all remaining hostages would be released and talks would be underway for the Israeli military to withdraw from Gaza, and for there to be a lasting peace. But you didn’t want that.

We know the real reason for the Ramadan massacres is the same as all the massacres since 1948; your plan is to exterminate the people of Palestine, and to expand Israel.

Stop pretending it is Hamas who has violated the ceasefire agreement. You refused to implement the second phase of the existing ceasefire agreement. Though you never really ceased fire. You violated the truce almost 1000 times, including shelling, killing 116 Gazans and injuring 490 others. Then you and the US tried to change the terms of the agreement to benefit only you.

Stop pretending it is Hamas who is responsible for the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza when you order your military to attack from the ground with tanks and gunfire, and from the sky with planes, drones, and .

Stop pretending you are targeting Hamas, when you have the AI technology to do so, but instead, wipe out entire families. You should not even be targeting Hamas, which has the right to exist, and resist your occupation, and defend Palestine.

Stop pretending Israel does not target Palestinian civilians when there is abundant evidence from the last 15 months, and the past 76 years, that at least 150,000 have perished by the Zionist regime since the Nakba.

Take responsibility for your actions – you and your soldiers are the ones who have murdered all the women and children, including the Bibas family. Every civilian casualty is the fault of Israel. You and your army decide when and where to bomb residential buildings, schools, hospitals, mosques, tents… You know who the journalists, aid and healthcare workers are. You know where the women and children are sleeping; they are the ones you target. Stop blaming the victims.

Stop pretending there are safer areas for civilians to move to.

Stop making Palestine an unsafe and uninhabitable place.

Stop blaming Hamas for using Palestinians as human shields, simply by living there, while the Israeli armed forces force Palestinians to be human shields in combat.

Stop pretending Hamas refused to release the hostages. Hamas wanted talks to release captives on both sides during the week following 7 Oct 2023. It was you who did not want to talk about the terms of their release. Instead, you saw the perfect opportunity to gaslight the world, obliterate Gaza, and take Palestine.

Stop lying about what happened on 7 October. Under a pressing time limit, Hamas took live hostages for leverage to have their own people released from your indefinite captivity. They did not behead or burn 40 babies. They did not waste precious time with mass rape. They did not intentionally kill civilians: some died in the corssfire from a gun battle.

We know the Israeli army murdered young Israelis on 7 October using helicopter gunfire, and tank fire. We saw the burned-out kibbutzim and the burned cars. We read the reports.

We know you’re willing to sacrifice your people: as prisoners under your occupation, and the potential hostages, killed by your army under the Hannibal Directive.

Stop calling Hamas terrorists when Israel’s government and military has terrorised the entire civilian population in Gaza, East Jerusalem, and the West Bank for decades. Seventeen years of siege in Gaza. Fifteen months of carpet bombing. All necessities for life, blocked. Since January, your terror campaign has spread across the occupied West Bank, slaughtering, displacing more than 40,000 Palestinians, destroying entire neighbourhoods, and denying them their right of return.

We know the grim statistics of death, detention, settlement construction and land confiscation in Palestine. In the illegally occupied West Bank, the settlers beat famers and their flocks, destroy olive groves, burn cars and bulldoze buildings. The occupation army supports these barbaric acts and carries out night-time raids of cities and refugee camps. Zionist soldiers kidnap residents and imprison men, women and children without charge; they destroy their homes, rip up roads, cut off power, water, sanitation. Torture, starve, and rape.

Stop denying you are an apartheid state with 900 roadblocks and checkpoints.

Stop restricting Palestinian worshippers’ access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the sacred month of Ramadan, or at any other time.

Stop ignoring international humanitarian law and committing war crimes.

Stop pressuring your Western “friend” nations, who supply you with arms and intelligence, to expand their racist campaigns against immigrants, and silence their people who speak against you, your genocide, and for liberation.

Palestinians have the right to exist and defend themselves through armed resistance, and the world has the right to defend Palestine – until it is free; until human rights prevail from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.
