Fundraising June 2025
June 2, 2025
Thank you for supporting Pearls and Irritations.
We hope you can continue that support.
Your support allows us to provide articles that address the challenges in Australia and the world, many of which are ignored by our mainstream media.
We have a point of view and step beyond the comfort zone of soft news to tackle issues we think are important to Australians.
That is particularly so in our recent coverage of the Gaza genocide, an issue which has been distorted and shamefully ignored by our mainstream media, including the ABC.
We continue to highlight climate change, defence and AUKUS, our region, the China “threat” and public issues.
Our readership continues to grow. But we need to do more to expand our readership. We are repeatedly urged by our very loyal readers to do that. We are reviewing our marketing and promotion plans. That will cost money.
We have increased our focus on the arts and introduced a link to arts articles including book reviews. We have also published an eBook on Palestine. It contains over 30 articles from our writers.
Pearls and Irritations is supported by a small, professional team. Our new editor, Catriona Jackson, is strengthening our editorial content.
Our production and technical teams continue to grow and elevate our digital presence through our website and social media channels.
Our transition to a public company and without Susie takes time and money.
We don’t take money from any governments or their agencies.
We will not take money from arms, gambling or fossil fuel companies.
We do not take advertising. We do not have a paywall.
We rely on writers who freely contribute articles.
Our money comes solely from our readers.
One-off donations are tax-deductible for June only through the Australian Cultural Fund, which is an Australian Government agency.

P&I speaks the truth about the genocide in Gaza
Pearls & Irritations has become indispensable for penetrating the misinformation of the mainstream media. It confirms Noam Chomsky’s analysis of the “necessary illusions” and thought control in our “free” press.
With the genocide in Gaza, the importance of Pearls & Irritations was aptly described by George Orwell: “We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty … If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear. In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act.”
