Trump – the wannabe king of America?
Some Americans have said it’s okay that Trump is effectively America’s king. After all, according to a 2017 survey, some 23 million Americans believe chocolate comes from brown cows.

Does CHINA really want to invade Australia?
That China may want to invade Australia is a silly idea promoted by certain people in Australian media. For example, in early 2023, Sky News Australia published an hour-long documentary claiming China's “aggression” could start a new world war. This may be linked to the huge $1.5 billion fund set aside by US Congress to project China in a bad light, the sum including $500 Million for media outlets to produce journalism critical of China. Nevertheless, as shown in a Lowy Institute Poll in 2024, its influence is clear; two-thirds of Australians think China will become a 'military threat' in the next 20...

Is there much life after age 80?
More people live longer as life expectancies grow over the decades. For example, in 1900, the worldwide average life expectancy (defined as the average number of years remaining) was 32 years. By 2024, it is now 73.3 years. A commonly-asked question is how much life is left for those of us aged 80 and above?

Israel, born illegitimate, seizes more illegal land in the West Bank
The birth of Israel on 14 May 1948 is said to be based on three related claims. Some people regard these claims as questionable. They form the basis for why Israel’s birth is said to be illegitimate.

As Israel's Gaza genocide death-toll passes 38,000: recognising Palestinian State now critical
Currently, the Palestine issue has become a question of how to get Israel to vacate and stop controlling Palestinian territories. That requires Israel to accept that it cannot continue pretending Palestine does not exist. Thankfully for Palestinians, however, it looks like much of the world already recognises that Palestine is a state.

Israel-The Real Terrorists
The Western world (18 % of the whole world) believe HAMAS is the terrorist of Gaza. That’s a result of mainstream media conflating HAMAS terrorism with legitimate aspirations for self-determination. It disregards the observation that one man’s terrorist may be another man’s freedom fighter in the Gaza strip.

Western misinformation and the so-called Xinjiang genocide
The UN Human Rights Report of August 31, 2022 says what’s happening in Xinjiang constitutes “crimes against humanity”. In plain English, this is saying it is not genocide under the UN Genocide Convention. It confirms an earlier Amnesty International report in 2021 to the same effect. Both are clear implicit rejections of unsubstantiated genocide claims.

Stopping Israel's genocide
The order of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on 28 March 2024 to stop genocide in Gaza is not a go-to-jail card for Israel. So Israel just ignored it. In so doing, it followed the example of the US which had ignored an ICJ decision against the US and in favour of Nicaragua in 1986 and, again, in 2004, in favour of Mexico.

ASIOs version of Australian sovereignty
Obviously no Australian, much less an MP, should ever sell out his country to any foreign power. However, in recent times, some actions taken by certain MPs arguably amount to doing just that. Mike Burgess, chief of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) appointed by the previous Scott Morrison government, gave an example of this in his recent annual report on Australias security.

Let parliament make Australias war decisions
Australia is an advanced parliamentary democracy, but the Prime Minister and cabinet members decide whether Australia is to go to war. Parliament is like the ghost of Cinderella with no formal voice in it. This is a historical hangover, a part of the royal prerogative, passed on from the monarch to the government of the day. It is a political custom not enforceable as law. Yet, on that flimsy basis, Australia has been joining the USA in many unlawful wars and invasions.
