Let’s get this right. Israel is not a democracy
In defending Israel’s actions in Gaza, a common refrain from supporters and right- wing politicians is that Israel is the only democratic country in the Middle East. The notion a democratic country can be above criticism despite charges of war crimes and genocide, suggests this exclusive club of democratic states can never be subject to international law or global opprobrium. So, a rule for us and a different rule for others.

The Weekend Australian newspaper was awash with pro-Israel propaganda as it lined up its faithful journalists for an anti-Palestine pile on ahead of Monday’s anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack.

Lies, damned lies and Israeli propaganda
The smoke and dust had only just settled from the armed incursion by Hamas in the Gaza envelope of neighbouring Israel on October 7 when the IDF began releasing eyewitness stories of Hamas beheading of babies and the rape and mutilation of women. These alleged horrific acts were immediately picked up by Israels enablers in the western media and so the world went into cataclysmic shock. Israel was a victim once more.

Australian Jewish Lobby groups damage Judaism and its followers
In their aggressive, unrelenting attempts to protect the government of Israel, groups such as the Australian Jewish Association, the Australia / Israel & Jewish Affairs Council, the Executive Council of Australian Jewry and the Zionist Federation of Australia have all contributed to a groundswell of anger in Australia over Israels shocking treatment of the Palestinians in Gaza and the Occupied West bank (OWB). And in the process have done a great disservice to Australian Jews; possibly stoking a rise in antisemitism.
