Michael Keane

Michael Keane is Professor of Chinese Media and Communications at Queensland University of Technology. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities since 2018. He is the author or editor of 20 books since 2002, over 150 peer-reviewed articles, and has been recipient of 5 Australian Research Council Discovery Project grants since 2003. He has been an editorial board member of a number of leading scholarly journals. He was an Eastern Scholar with the Shanghai Theatre Academy from 2011- 2013, a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Hong Kong Open University from 2016 – 2017, and Distinguished Prof at Communication University of China 2019 -2021. He has many long-standing research contacts in China and is a co-organiser, with colleagues from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Yunnan University, of the bi-annual U40 China-Australia Summer School.
