“I really value P & I, for its individualistic and thoughtful commentary at this difficult time – and its provision of a platform to experienced commentators with no connection to business or political bias. I do not subscribe or buy mainstream newspapers”.

This is what our readers tell us time and time again.

Pearls and Irritations prides itself on its independence in Australia’s media landscape. We are fierce about our independence.

With the shortcomings of our mainstream media, our readers tell us that the role of P&I is more and more important, particularly as the world trips from one unresolved global challenge to the next, many noticeably absent or underreported by mainstream news.

We focus on what we consider truthful reporting and analysis.

We don’t accept donations from corporations, political parties or individuals who may want to influence our direction. All our support comes from our loyal and much appreciated readers.

Pearls and Irritations needs financial support to keep improving and growing, and to help us maintain our independence.

For the first time and for a short period of time we can offer tax deductibility on donations through the Australian Cultural Fund which is a fundraising platform for Australian artists. It is operated by Creative Australia and was established by the Australian Government in 2003 to encourage donations to the arts.

You can make your one-off donation here.

Your donation will be gratefully received and we are grateful for those who have already donated.
