Richard Robison was born and educated in Sydney. He has a Ph.D and M.A. (hons) from the University of Sydney. He is Honorary Professorial Fellow at Melbourne University. He was previously Professor of Political Economy at the Institute for Social Studies, The Hague (2003 to 2006) and Leverhulme Visiting Professor at the Centre for Global Studies at Warwick University 2001/2002. From 1994 to 1999 he was Director of the Australian Research Council's Special Research Centre for Political and Social Change in Asia and Professor of Asian Politics at Murdoch University from 1991 to 2000.
