Nasser is the son of a Palestinian refugee. He is president of the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network, a co-founder of Australians For Palestine and a founding board member of Olive Kids. With his father’s legacy in mind, Nasser is determined to continue the struggle for justice and a free Palestine.

Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong’s response to Israel’s genocide in Palestine is an insult to Palestinians living under occupation, bombardment, and relentless oppression. It’s a shirking of Australia’s international obligations, and an affront to people of good conscience across this continent who, for 57 weeks, have rallied, protested, and pleaded for Australia to take a stand against these crimes.

Jenin: amid horrific escalation, its time we stopped being bystanders

The footage is harrowing. Drones launching missiles over peoples homes. The front doors of a hospital pelted with tear gas. Young children in tears fleeing their homes in the middle of the night, arms raised high in surrender. Israeli bulldozers ripping up roads. It is time we stopped being bystanders to these atrocities and stepped in to deliver a different future for young Palestinians - the same we demand for Ukrainians - one of self-determination, freedom, and security.

There can be no freedom or equality without Justice

Out of the blue, my fellow Olive Kids board member, Amin Abbas and I received an invitation from Ron Finkel and footy great, Gareth Andrews, to discuss Project Rozana, an overseas aid initiative for children aimed at building bridges to peace between Israel and Palestine. What would usually be a wonderful opportunity to work with others to help Palestinian children in need, at the same time, raised for us some red flags.
