The genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and collective punishment in Gaza perpetrated by Israel has removed the masks from Western governments.
It has shown us the sinister reality of these Western governments who knowingly support this humanitarian disaster and outrage in Gaza. We see they are not the democratic, compassionate, morally responsible governments we have been led to believe.
How is it that for years Anthony Albanese expressed his solidarity with the Palestinians and then suddenly abandoned Palestine in its greatest hour of need?
Is the price of winning political power subservience to the greater political force – the US Deep State, Israel and the global Zionist lobby?
Do politicians kid themselves and justify this terrible moral price by thinking they can do some good in other areas of social policy? Did Obama bow to the demands of the US Deep State thinking that at least he could get through Obamacare?
Do the Australian Federal Labor ministers justify the selling of their souls by thinking that at least their domestic policies will be better than those of the LNP?
Or is it that few politicians can resist the group-think of the new environment they find themselves in once assuming office, or can challenge the status quo? Is it that they quickly become moulded by the prevailing power imperatives and realpolitik once they are in power? Afterall, how can anyone take on a global system of power?
Leonard Cohen sings ‘There is a crack, a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.’
We saw this with Julian Assange who was besieged in the Ecuadorian Embassy for seven years and then held in the maximum security Belmarsh Prison for jumping bail where his reasons for jumping bail on contrived charges by Sweden were vindicated for another five years. This was not justice in action. This was the US Deep State in action with the collaboration of the UK and Swedish Deep States. We saw then the crack in the veneer of the British justice system, and the light came through.
Similarly with the genocide in Gaza, where Biden famously said it had to be all over by Xmas 2023 but where he continues to send $billions in weaponry seven months later.
We see the blanket ban on all Labor politicians, with the collaboration of LNP politicians, not to talk about the ‘war’ (genocide) in Gaza except for the occasional feeble and hollow media release from the Foreign Minister Penny Wong. There are almost no interviews of Australian politicians on the subject of the ongoing genocide in Gaza on mainstream media.
We see the US and UK bully the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prevent it from issuing arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant – interfering in what should be an independent, impartial judicial process.
Julian Assange presented evidence of war crimes and was severely punished. David McBride presented evidence of war crimes by the Australian SAS in Afghanistan which were confirmed by an inquiry but McBride went the prison and the perpetrators of the war crimes remain free.
Western governments are quick to support the ICC issuing arrest warrants for their enemy Putin, but also quick to try to block arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant where their war crimes are many times the order of magnitude of Putin’s. And they talk about a rules-based global order? The hypocrisy and double-standards are hard to swallow. Another crack where the light is shining through.
The AUKUS governments continue to focus on the false narrative of antisemitism as a distraction, as well as the by now ridiculous and farcical claim that Israel has a ‘right’ to defend itself against the resistance of a people it is occupying.
The Western ‘liberal democratic’ governments love to cite Israel as the only democracy in the region even though its system is an apartheid system.
Western ‘liberal democratic’ governments are happy to say that Israel’s ongoing expansion of settlements in the West Bank is illegal and should stop, but they do absolutely nothing to stop it. One wonders if they secretly giggle after making such statements.
They also fail to describe how the land is being stolen from Palestinians which has been going on at least since 1948. Just confirm that it is illegal and we need a two-state solution (also zero action there) and move on.
The ALP and LNP collaborate on their support for Zionist Israel. When the Greens try to discuss the matter in Parliament they are censured! How can we call ourselves a democracy? Another crack in the façade (and farce) of democracy where the light is getting in.
Australians, like Americans and Britons, overwhelmingly want a permanent immediate ceasefire in Gaza along with release of the hostages. But Israel does not want a permanent ceasefire, and so the West keeps quiet about it.
The West, particularly the AUKUS gang of countries, does not represent their supposed constituency as one would expect in a democracy. They support another, darker, more sinister agenda.
