Life is changed, not ended.
Diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease over two years ago, Susie died on October 24, aged 79.
As she slipped away she was comforted by many family members. She was at peace.
Susie was remarkable how she handled the progressive disablement of MND. She was an inspiration for all of us. She was very brave.
As a friend last week told me. “My conversation with Susie was uplifting – I left it feeling sad, but much better than before. What a wonderful gift to those who love her – her grace and calmness is beautiful”.
Susie had a great love and skill in blending two families together.
In our blended family there were six children, Emma, James, Susan, Rosalie, Peter and Libby; 14 grandchildren, Katelyn, Carlo, Lachlan, Alex, Naomi, Miriam, Joseph, Danny, Ben, Alice, Hannah, Tilly, Louisa, and Max and nine great grandchildren, Vivienne, Sylvie, Taran, Elma, Mina, Oliver, Mica, Fin and Lola.
Neary, Meng and Belinda are also treasured members of our family.
Without Susie, Pearls and Irritations would never have been launched and prospered. She often reminded me that she was the Pearl and I was the Irritation.
She was exceptionally able in many diverse fields. Very smart and patient with me!
A Memorial Service for Susie will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3 Strangways Street, Curtin, ACT, on Tuesday 29 October at 1 pm.
O Lord, support us all the day long of this troublous life, until the
shades lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is
hushed, the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, Lord, in
thy mercy grant us safe lodging, a holy rest, and peace at last; through Jesus Christ our Lord.Amen
