Thank you for the important work you are doing in providing an informed, alternative analysis on news that is independent from mainstream media.
Donor, August 2024
You, our readers, are our most valued asset, without whom we would not be supported in our goal to publish informed analysis and commentary on domestic and world issues that matter to Australians.
We like you to feel a part of a Pearls and Irritations community and seek your point of view through a number of methods, such as Letters to the Editor, comments on our social media channels and most recently by opening comments on our articles. When you tell us something, you have our attention.
Earlier this year we invited you to give us your point of view on how Pearls and Irritations is meeting your needs. You told us that what we are doing is on the right track and the volume of articles we deliver is ‘just right’. You also told us that you would like to see a greater gender and age balance in our authorship, an increased diversity of topics, and a focus on authors exploring solutions to public policy problems, rather than restating the problem itself.
Our editorial policy is focused on meeting these requests.
We are also focused on growing our audience, engaging the next generation of readers and accommodating readers of diverse languages. As we extend our media to include podcasts and video and also focus our efforts to distribute our content more widely. New readers are finding us through search engines and social media platforms.
Just as we have a point of view, we appreciate and listen to your point of view and make real efforts to deliver the articles you want to read.
To extend our reach we need to add to our team to manage our increased volume of articles, media and several distribution channels.
We hope that you can help us reach our fundraising goal to ensure we have the budget to continue to raise the bar in the Australian media landscape with a one off tax deductible donation.
You can make your donation here.
As always, I appreciate your ongoing support and readership, and to those of you who have already donated, I thank you.
