The only enemy the US has in the drug war is itself
No one wakes up one day and says to him or herself that today is the day I'll become a drug addict – society pushes people, in some cases high disposable wealth creates a sense of boredom from which the stimulus of recreational drugs is a form of escape, in others it's peer pressure, we see others doing it, they encourage us to try and off we go down a slippery slope.

Falun Gong leaders disprove immortality by inconveniently dying
According to US Congressman Scott Perry, I'm part of an online strategy designated by Xi Jinping in December of last year to fight Falun Gong's growth. If only I were that important!

Comparing the Chinese fight against corruption to the West's
Government corruption is, or should be, a scourge in any government. We're faced with it on a daily basis, we know it exists and we know something needs to be done. What is done and how it is done, determines the validity of our government's commitment; if they are not stamping it out or at least attempting to reduce it, then they are failing the people who put them there - the voters.

ETIM extremists attempt to terrorise China
So many people have a concern about ETIM and following their role into Syria they are reported in many Western media outlets as coming for China next.

'China's Pearl': Macao 25 years after return to China
Zhongshan, where I live, is only about 40 kilometres as the crow flies from the Special Administrative Region of Macao, described as China's Pearl by Xi Jinping. The name is apt, Macao sits at the entry of the Pearl River opposite Hong Kong and has, in recent years, shown both robust growth and remarkable stability.

Sanction rebounds: The US will cripple its own economy
The Biden Administration is leaving Trump a time bomb. The US seems intent on trying to cripple China, but the effect is rebounding badly and will most likely cripple its own economy.

Biden Pardons his son: The US "rules based order" in action
When I'm asked what I think of Biden granting a pardon to his son for offences, which Biden himself has spoken openly about as deserving of prison, I don't have much to say. On the same day, I see criticism of China because a senior military official has been removed from his post and is under investigation. The two things are about as incompatible as it gets.

Are APEC and G20 irrelevant?
There are 21 members of The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and its purpose is to ease trade throughout the member countries. The aims of APEC are noble and good, they are to create greater prosperity for the people of the region by promoting balanced, inclusive, sustainable, innovative and secure growth and by accelerating regional economic integration. Mark those words because we'll come back to them. Since the creation of APEC, tariffs have been drastically reduced and trade restrictions eased. But all that has changed.

Democracy; what democracy?
As we approach the end of election season in the USA and are faced with a very uncertain future, it's worth commenting that democracy is dead. At least democracy as we understand it: the idea of having a vote which means having a say in how your country is run.

What media aren't telling us about BRICS
Former Goldman Sachs Chief economist Jim O'Neill is credited with coining the acronym BRICS to describe the building block which has grown from an original four countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China and later, joined by South Africa, from the initials of which, he gave it the name.

An open and free Indo-Pacific, or stability at home?
The Voice of America, in an article about why the Quad met in Washington this week, claims that the aims of the Quad are to create an open and free Indo-Pacific. Biden, in a prepared remark, suggested his Administration believes “Xi Jinping is looking to focus on domestic economic challenges and minimise the turbulence in China’s diplomatic relationships, and he's also looking to buy himself some diplomatic space”.

Rewriting history will not serve Australia well
There can be little doubt that Australia is entering the same kind of misinformation domain as the US. Just a few days ago, failed presidential hopeful Nikki Haley posted on X that UN Resolution 2758 doesn’t mention Taiwan.

The Taiwan question of a disobedient child
The latest manifestation of the USA’s bad behaviour is what they call “The Taiwan-U.S. ‘Working Level Meeting’ on International Organisation Issues”, which was recently held in Taipei. This isn’t about international Organisation issues; it’s about giving more power to a Province of China.

Mainstream media turns blind eye as UN visits Xinjiang, criticises US
Human Rights are big news again. There are murders in Gaza, there are restrictions in Ukraine, there are allegations of abuses in Iran and any other place that the US sees as an adversary but, one thing that isn’t big news is that the United Nations has recently visited Xinjiang. So far, 100% of our mainstream media have ignored this news.

ABC has no credibility on strangely timed Chinese ‘spy’ stories
To say Australian media has a poor record of getting things right in relation to Chinese ‘spying’ allegations is an understatement. It’s possible, in almost every media outlet for anyone who knows anything about China, to look beyond the headline and see an entirely different story; the ABC’s latest offering is no exception.

Janet Yellen came - China was polite
Janet Yellen came, she pontificated and postulated, ate some nice Chinese food, drank a beer with Nicholas Burns, a man that Chinese people loathe and hold little respect for; then she left. This tells the world all about her trip, what she ate and drank was more important than what she said and did.

Worrying development as Australia absent from Boao Forum, eschews regional engagement
Just a week ago, Wang Yi was in Australia and it appeared to be something of a reset. Australian media were happy(ish), barley is back, wine sales looked set to be back (and was formally confirmed that the tariffs would be dropped only a few days later). Only lobsters left on the list, there are still a few issues with food health concerns and meat from some abattoirs but everything appeared good. At least that was the hope a week ago.

When escalation means escalation
In one of the worlds poorest countries, Yemen, there is a tribe called the Houthis. Emanating from that tribe to lead a larger coalition of other tribes is a group which does not want to be ruled by a Western or Saudi backed puppet government, they are called Ansar Allah, which means Supporters of god. Western media, in an effort to either simplify, or perhaps to denigrate them, have given Ansar Allah different names, they are now referred to as either Houthis or Iranian Backed Houthis, or sometimes Iranian Backed Militia, they are rarely, if ever, referred to by their...

Singing from the Songsheet: Media uncritically parrots ASPI's anti-China propaganda
The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) have once again proven they should be re-named the American Strategic Policy Institute. They have produced a new report based on errors, misunderstandings, speculation and offered no proof whatsoever to make China, and people who support China, look bad; all while being funded by the US State Department. At least the report was funded by the US State Department until ASPI decided it wasnt!

Sacrificing pawns in the USAs geopolitical game
Ahead of its elections, Taiwan needs to be forewarned of putting too many eggs into the USA basket. A significant body of evidence warns that the people of Taiwan may find themselves nothing but pawns, to be sacrificed in the USAs geopolitical game.

The world needed the Xi-Biden meeting
Western media reports about China are of tensions and animosity, restrictions and sanctions, balloons and drugs. So, its easy to believe the China-US relationship has fallen apart. However, look beyond the headlines and political rhetoric, there is a different picture.

Biden confirms hes not the intellect he once was
Once again Biden confirms hes not the intellect he once was. People will remember years ago when Biden was a smart, intelligent and incisive man. He was always easy to disagree with but never easy to dismiss. Now, there is a serious danger whenever he goes off-script. As he left a meeting with Xi Jinping, he did so again by calling Xi Jinping a dictator.

Biden forgets that the C in APEC stands for cooperation
There are 21 countries attending APEC and over 1,200 organisations from within those countries. Only one of the 21 countries, which happens to be the host, has a recent history of promoting de-coupling, or de-risking which is diametrically opposed to what APEC stands for; they seem to forget that the C means cooperation.

Cyborg Rats and Genocide: Daily Telegraph plumbs new depths of sinophobia
Its not a good start to any media article when the sub headline contains an editorial error, but this headline which reads Chinese minister invited to AI summit helped create cyborg rats: Wu Zhaohui has also been decribed [sic] as man whose fingerprints are all over the Uyghur genocide indicates that the once world-renowned Daily Telegraph has entered an era of sensationalism and amateurism.

Two global leaders poles apart on the same issue
Chinas stance on war is very clear, in fact, it could not be more clear. In every conflict on the globe China calls for peaceful resolution and dialogue to resolve differences rather than force. A recently released White Paper, on the White Paper, on the Belt and Road Initiative, emphasised this calling for global peace, security and safety. China is nothing, if not consistent in this.

Is China hiding a missing submarine in the sea?
If we were to believe the UKs Daily Mail, China should be in mourning, they have lost a crew of 55 and a Nuclear submarine. The Times, historically, a reputable media outlet led with the headline that China kills own sailors with a trap set for British and US submarines.

The Port of Darwin national security furphy
It was OK with ASIO, the Defence Department, the Treasury Minister of the day (Scott Morrison) and it was definitely OK with the Northern Territory government to lease the Port of Darwin to a Chinese contractor. It was even OK with the Obama Administration who would have vetoed it for sure if they had a problem. But over the first 8 years of a 99-year lease, something changed.

Our media won't tell us but Huawei's Mate60 is set to challenge iPhone
The moon waxes and wanes, the tide ebbs and flows, empires come and go but some empires come more than once. This is, once again, Chinas time. While there have been moves to prevent this from occurring, one recent event proves they are unsuccessful.

Everything you know about China being a threat is untrue
We, Westerners, impose our sense of individualism onto a society that has a sense of communalism. We are bothered by it. But this is not something the Chinese people need rescuing from. China is not your enemy, the people telling you China is your enemy, are you enemy.

The United States has troops operating inside China
Theres a lot of controversy over what China is doing in the South China Sea, but there seems to be very little in the way of perspective. The recent water attack on Philippines vessels was not a hostile act by a military nation, it was a Chinese Coastguard ship deterring another nation from building on a disputed island. Chinas actions are overshadowed by the immense US military presence encircling China, and now extending to US troops operating inside China.

The US fails to recruit Taiwans neighbours to a proxy war
If we learn anything from history it should be that the many efforts to destabilise countries by the USA have had very limited success. Taiwan is no different, it is being misread, misinterpreted and consequently, the international community are being misled. Having failed to recruit Taiwans neighbours to a proxy war against China, this leaves only Australia; a willing participant in every US war.

OHCHR politicised to make anti-China claims on Xinjiang: new report
It isnt something we expect from an august body that forms part of the United Nations but, according to CO-WEST-PRO Consultancys recently released fourth paper, the report issued by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on alleged atrocities in Xinjiang is of substandard quality and is not a reliable source for popular claims made in the West about the Xinjiang situation.

Interest rates and housing: should we panic yet?
Affordable house pricing has been an issue for as long as most of us can remember. Our grandparents bought their first homes when their annual salaries were just a shade less than the purchase price. By the time the 80s rolled around, the difference was much more stark, it was likely a home could be twice the annual salary but when the 90s hit and interest rates, already at record levels of 12% surged forward to 17.5% it looked like nothing could ever be worse.

An Iran-Saudi peace deal made in China
